Can you hear me now? Good...
This tutorial focuses on the detailed specifics that will make distributed agile meetings effective. We will demonstrate several key agile meetings, run in a distributed fashion, so teams can immediately improve their projects. To do so, I will highlight specific tools available in the market place to facilitate each of these different kinds of discussions (retrospectives, planning meetings, stand ups). I’ll demonstrate the processes to enable more effective communication between remote locations and describe the key roles required on a project to encourage the best exchange of information.
While there are many proposed sessions focusing on high level benefits and challenges of distributed agile projects - I wanted to run something very concrete and specific that attendees could immediately put to use on their project once returning from the conference. In this session - we would demo specific practices and tools that iteration and scrum managers can use to facilitate more effective communication between remote locations.
90 minutes breakdown would include: 10 minute - Set context of the challenge facing distributed teams 5 minutes - provide the overview of people, process, and tools (the three things that will resolve communication challenges for these teams) 10 minutes - Highlight the key eight steps to running a distributed meeting - key lessons that every conference call should follow 5 minutes - Overview of the kinds of communication infrastructure every distributed team should invest in 15 minutes - Talk about distributed planning meetings (showing tools specific to this kind of session) 15 minutes - Talk about distributed retrospectives (showing tools specific to this kind of session) 15 minutes - Talk about distributed stand up meetings (showing tools specific to this kind of session) 15 minutes - Summary and questions
